So my week started out with taking Ryan to the Dr. for some bad wheezing and the Dr. ended up admitting Ryan to the hospital. We thankfully only had to stay one night but one night to long in my opinion. He basically had a cold virus and because he has such sensitive lungs from his RSV when he was a baby, he didn't handle it very well when the virus went into his lungs. He had to have some round the clock treatments to give him a jump start before he could come home. He had breathing treatments every 2 hours at first and then every 4 hours, and he had steroids and antibiotics. His white blood cell count was elevated, the reason for antibiotics and the steroids were to help his lungs. His chest x-ray looked fairly normal except where they could tell he had the virus, but they were worried he had pneumonia. So, now he is at home continuing on all the same meds as at the hospital through Sunday and then he will have to stay on maintainence breathing treatments for a few months. The Dr. said if he got this sick from a cold then he needs to be treated for it for a while. Anyways, thank God he is doing better and I can't get him to rest for anything. When he gets running around to much and starts coughing I have to make him sit for a little while. I just pray we can avoid something like this from happening again. It came on him sooo quickly I don't think it was preventable. Hope everyone else is doing good and feeling well.
